PEKITI-TIRSIA KALI INSTRUCTOR AND FOUNDER OF HASTARTES TACTICAL
Ferd Terado is a Certified Professional Instructor [Guro] in the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali System and the founder of Hastartes Tactical. He is a direct student of Tuhon Tim Waid, Master Instructor and President of PTK-SMF. As a dedicated student in the CPI Program, Ferd established the affiliate group PTK-SMF Peninsula in Foster city, CA and the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [Kidlat] training group in San Diego, CA. He is currently based in Eugene, OR.

Guro Ferd is a regular presenter and guest instructor in various annual martial arts events such as SoCal Swordfight, Legacy: Honoring the Grandmasters, SoCal Swordfight, and Oregon State Hanmadang: Martial Arts Festival & Tournament, where he and members of Hastartes volunteer as event security, as well as martial arts performers.
As a result of his dedication, Guro Ferd earned a reputation for being not only the most receptive and proactive of Tuhon Tim Waid's students, but also the only known PTK-SMF instructor, who's ever sparred outside the confines of his organization against various weapon-based martial disciplines such as Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and other FMA styles. The history is there supported by numerous video on his YouTube channel and other social media platforms. To this day, his efforts and contributions are unsurpassed by the current PTK-SMF instructor roster.

HISTORY & AFFILIATIONS
Guro Ferd was undeniably the most publicly renowned and influential member of Tuhon Tim Waid's cadre of PTK-SMF instructors:

He was responsible for the strong and unified presence of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali and PTK-SMF in the San Francisco Bay from 2010 until 2018. He has always been at the forefront when it came to promoting PTK-SMF in the Bay Area and online.

Out of all the available and more senior instructors within PTK-SMF, Guro Ferd was the one chosen and invited by a martial arts group in Chernihiv, Ukraine to teach a 5-Day introductory course in Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, which proved to be a great success. A week after that workshop, members of that group unanimously decided to join PTK-SMF and officially became PTK-SMF Ukraine.

He first made his mark in the Bay Area by actively involving the Bay Area PTK-SMF Instructors to perform in Filipino festivals, teaching in collaborative training events, as well as conducting his own public workshops.

He established the annual open invitational sparring events called Magkatipunan, which many local fighters representing notable FMA styles such as Bahala Na Multi-Style Escrima (Stockton), Lameco Astig, Angel's Disciples Escrima Association, Inosanto-Lacoste Kali, etc. all enjoyed participating in. It is also one of the strongest contributing factors that made Guro Ferd the preeminent Pekiti-Tirsia Kali instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area. He continues this tradition by establishing and hosting the annual Hastiludia: Oregon State Martial Gathering in Eugene, OR and a more cross-discipline version of Magkatipunan.

Guro Ferd briefly appeared as a competitor on Knife Or Death: Season 2, which aired on The History Channel in 2018.
Guro Ferd is also the only known PTK-SMF instructor, who's ever sparred outside the confines of his organization against various weapon-based martial disciplines such as Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and other FMA styles. The history is there supported by numerous videos on his YouTube channel and other social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. To this day, his efforts and contributions remain unsurpassed by the current roster of PTK-SMF instructors.
As of March 2024 Guro Ferd is no longer an official representative of PTK-SMF; after 14 years of loyal service both as an instructor and student, the organization unceremoniously removed Guro Ferd from its Certified Instructors roster. Despite these decisions, Guro Ferd is ever thankful for the opportunity to have trained directly with Tuhon Tim Waid and to have served PTK-SMF to the best of his abilities. The Hastartes now stands as a Martial Institution of its own and will continue to train, teach and promote the Authentic Pekiti-Tirsia Kali System.
